Circa: 1990 Condition: used Size: 4 inches high by 2 inches wide by 2 inches deep Color: white Country of Origin: Japan Manufacturer: Knobler
I bought this white porcelain pie bird in England. It is also called a pie vent or pie funnel. It measures 4 inches high by 2 inches wide by 2 inches deep. It has been used--has some staining. This pie bird is called a Knobler for the designer and was made 1990-1995. I thought it was cute! Pie birds were developed in the 1500s to release steam from a baking pie so the filling didn't boil over.
