With the western discovery of the Japanese porcelain from the Imari region during the early Victorian era, 1830-1850s, the Imari colors of rust, cobalt blue, gold and green became a rage. China and porcelains of all shapes and sizes were made to reflect the voracious appetite of the west for these gorgeous colors. The fad lasted well into the 1930-194s when it faded out leaving only lovely remnants.
